I had the great pleasure of attending the National Communication Association’s annual convention in Chicago, IL for their centennial celebration last week. While there, I presented at a Big Data Panel as part of the Human Communication & Technology Division. My presentation discusses the common ways those in the media speak about large data projects. My intention was to persuade the researchers present, as active participants in disseminating their research, to be conscientious in the ways they describe big data and the implications of their results to create measured expectations of “big data” as a whole.
